does driving with o/d off all the ruin the engine?
I’m talking about in a new hyundai. I know it gets worse gas mileage with o/d off. But it runs a lot faster. I’m just wondering if it is ok and will not harm the engine any quicker. I know that up hills it is much easier to go up hills even with low horse power o/d off works great.
No, it will not hurt a thing. It is only locking out the highest gear which is called overdrive. This switch is used to tow or in mountain areas for more power. Just as you have already figured out. The mileage will suffer with it not in overdrive but the car is more powerful. Its your preference.
